How Does it work?
Inside the Joomla PayPal IPN component you can create several products. On PayPal.com you generate a "buy now" button for each of these products. You can easily insert these buttons into your articles, using our button generator plugin. Whenever a customer wants to buy a digital product on your website he presses the "buy now" button inside a article and is taken to PayPal.com's website. After a successful purchase, the customer returns to a thank-you page on your website and a PayPal.com will send a hidden message towards the component. This messages stores the transaction and triggers the sending of an automated email containing your digital product as a attachement or a download link.
Installation
1. Login to your PayPal account
Login to your PayPal account at www.paypal.com and go to Profile->Instant Payment Notification Preferences.
2. Activate IPN
In the PayPal screen click on the edit button to activate the IPN preferences.
First check the box to activate Instant Payment Notification (IPN), next enter the URL at which you will receive the payment notifications. This url points to your Joomla website and the Joomla PayPal IPN handler file.
3. Enable Auto Return
Go to Profile->Website Payment Preferences. Make sure that the Auto Return Radio boxes are set to ON. You can also enter a return URL. This is the page where all customers are returned to after they have made a purchase. Finaly hit the save button and the PayPal setup is complete.
4. Add Products
After you created a products inside the Joomla PayPal IPN component you have to generate a PayPal button. This button can be placed inside your Joomla articles and point towards the PayPal payment system. Login to your PayPal account at www.paypal.com and go to Merchant Tools->Buy Now Buttons (at Key Features on the right). Fill in the details, copy the button and paste it inside your article.
